The burglar's breakfast

Burglar means thief. Alfie was a burglar. But he wasn’t a good burglar. He didn’t steal good things for him. One of his funs was to eat breakfast. Breakfast was his main meal of the day. First, he tried to eat cornflakes but it wasn’t. Someone stole his cornflakes. Then found a trail of cornflakes. He came face to face with the thief. It was a goat. He gave up cornflakes. On the way home, he found a broken egg shell. He planned to make scrambled egg instead of cornflakes. But the broken egg shell was Alfie’s. He got angry because of hungry. The thief was a fox and it looked very happy. He backed home and decided to make waffles but it wasn’t too. He had to go restaurant to eat something. He wanted to quit burglar because he knew how people felt when he burgled their houses. In the restaurant, he read an advertisement which gave him an idea. It was the advertisement to stop a thief. He entered the company and caught more crooks in his first week than all the other detectives put together. (188)

Stories of fairies

Crystal passed her final test at the tooth fairy training school. If you pass the test, you can change baby teeth into money. Jet was a lazy fairy in the school and she couldn’t pass the test. Crystal prepared for her first trip. She checked a bag of magic travel dust, a list of children to visit, and her wand. After that she arrived at a girl’s home. I was a midnight and the girl was sleeping. The girl’s name was Beth. Crystal tried to change Beth’s baby teeth into money, but it didn’t succeed. She started crying and it awoke Beth. Crystal talked Beth what happened. They decided to back fairy world with her magic dust. They found Jet exchanged Crystal’s wand. They could back the wand, and Crystal gave Beth a dress. In a finish, Beth was back in her bed. First she thought the adventure was just a dream and she expected to see her baby tooth or money under her pillow. But what she saw was the smallest dress in the world. (176)

Stories of dragons

There were a lot of dragons in old age. This book is stories of dragons. Stan was a woodcutter. He and his wife didn’t have children. Then, a wizard appeared and said “I can grant you one wish”. Stan’s wish was to have as many children as his wife was thinking about. The number of the children was one hundred so he couldn’t feed them. He decided to find treasure but there was a dragon. Stan showed the dragon how strong he was. Dragon was afraid him and gave him the treasure. And he could feed his children. The second story is about Tom. Tom loved fishing. One day he caught a worm instead of a fish. The worm got bigger and bigger, everyone was afraid the worm. He had to settle the problem because he caught it. He found a big green dragon which was a vegetarian and the dragon was kind. Tom asked for the dragon to beat the worm. When the worm popped up from a river, the worm took one look at the dragon and swam for its life. It was never seen again. The final story is about Victor. He made barrels, the best barrels in the country. He was always seeking good trees to make barrels. One day when he was seeking it, he tripped and fell. And there were two dragons. They asked for him “awake us when spring comes”. Victor accepted the order. He had to wait until spring. There was nothing he could do. All he had to eat and drink were grass and water. Long days after he got be as thin as a twig. The dragons woke up and said “We can’t eat you” because his body was skin and bone. They took him his home. Victor served a lot of foods as a dinner. The dragons enjoyed the foods so much and they decided they would never eat people again. (322)

SLAM DUNK

Do you know SLAM DUNK? This is a famous comic in Japan. I like basketball and the start was this comic. Hanamichi was a juvenile he was always fighting. One day he saw a cute girl whose name Haruko. The girl liked basketball so he decided to enter the basketball club. The start was that girl but he got crazy about basketball. He had high physical ability, especially jump. He got be the best rebounder in his prefecture. This comic is so interesting on games, and other scenes. They were high school students, they practiced very hard. I like Mitsui the most. He was a specialist on 3 point shoot. He was chosen as MVP when he was junior high school but he got hurt in his leg so he left the team. He got juvenile and came the gym to break the team. Then Anzai supervision appeared, and Mitsui said to him “I want to play basketball again” with crying. He came back the team and the team started again. After reading this comic, I was excited and want to play basketball. Why don’t you read this comic? (189)

I read “Puss in boots” this time. This puss is very clever, I want this puss. There was a family, the father died and there were three sons. The eldest son took the mill, the middle brother grabbed the donkey, and the youngest son Tom only got the cat. He thought he would have to eat the cat. But the cat could talk. He was surprised about that. The cat suggested some plan to Tom. Tom gave him clothes, leather bag, floppy hat and shiny pair of boots. The puss got rabbits and brought them to palace and asked to see the king. The king got interested in the cat because he could speak! Next time the cat brought partridges to the palace. The king wanted to know who kept the cat. Some days later, the cat said to Tom “take off your clothes and jump in the river. Tom was puzzled but obeyed him. Then the king came by and he knew who kept the cat. Finally Tom and the princess married. Puss got rich cat too. If I had that puss, I would be rich person like Tom, but this cat cunning, I want cuter cat. (198)

I read “Story of chocolate” this time. Now, almost of all the people have eaten a chocolate but it wasn’t the sweet one in old age. The first chocolate drinkers were farmers who lived by the rainforest in central America. Monkeys liked the white pulp in the cocoa, and spat out the bitter beans that were in the middle. The farmer tried to eat the beans, but it was too bitter to eat. The beans smell was so good so he tried to drink it by hot water. It was good, but bitter too. Hundreds of years later, Spanish explorer set out with an army to fight with the people. After many battles, the emperor wanted to make peace, and then the people gave chocolate to him. He liked it very much. After that chocolate got used be a famous drink, but it was drink one not eat one. And it was bitter drink too. A lot of person developed new types of chocolates. Add sugar, milk, nuts, and marshmallows and so on. We can eat them easily now. I like chocolate very much. But I didn’t know how it birth, and grown. I could learn from this book. The first chocolate was drink type, it was bitter but it had sweet flavor. Chocolate was mysterious material. (217)
